I have a question... 

 Q. Why did you start the Reset Method?
I have spent my career educating myself on how the human body moves and connects as a unit. Bringing “Gordon PT Reset Method ” to more people is what our health and wellness world needs. It is the foundation and platform our body craves.
The human body relies on multiple systems to build a solid base. ​ We all have compensation patterns that have developed from the grind of daily life, playing year round sports, surgeries and high stress jobs. These patterns become "normal" to our system and the body starts to adapt to a  new way of moving. Over time these patterns start to create imbalances  and our asymmetrical bodies will start to compensate and break down. It does not have to be this way....our bodies and minds can change with the right input. Committing to a consistent RESET within your week will give you the tools to expand, orient and move your body. You absolutely will feel and move better...... I know I do!


Q. What can I expect with a Reset Zoom class?
We understand that individual services may not be an option for everyone but you deserve to feel better and learn this amazing approach.
Classes will be a 40-60 minute interactive live or recorded zoom class.  You can expect to learn the why's of human movement and importance of giving the body what it needs to counteract our daily patterns. These virtual offering will always have release, realign and restore in mind. 
One class will focus on opening up the body through self fascia and breathing positions and the other will focus more on intentional movement and strength.
Some classes will focus more on one concept than another but we will always work on gaining expansion in our bodies and addressing our asymmetrical bodies. 
We will also offer a 5 week small group program to teach you this science based multi system approach reset to help you lay the essential framework your body craves to move and feel better. We will breakdown the reset foundational pillars and have easy practical tools to start integrating right away into your week..
 Whether you are dealing with aches and pains, coming back from an injury, sitting all day at work or school, high level athlete or you just want to move better, this is your reset!  Be sure to get on our email list so you do not miss out.

Although modifications will be given, you will need to be able to get up and down from the ground, have an open space near a wall and an open mind:)
Props will be used and most can be found around your home, such as pillows, pillow case,/towel, a small ball.


Reset Classes are for educational and instruction only. You do not need a doctors script but are advised to get clearance from your healthcare provider.


Q. What can I expect from a 1:1 session?
This is not your typical rehab session. You will always be with the same provider and know you are the priority!
You will not need to come 3x a week. The first two sessions, whether in person or virtual, we will get to know you, your goals and start to teach you your RESET journey. 
​An assessment of posture and movement will be done and explained to you in a way you can understand. Following the assessment we will begin a treatment to address the findings.This includes manual or instructed self fascia and breath work. We will teach you how working with your fascia, breath, rib cage and pelvis can help with your pain, mobility and another perk, your nervous system. You will be given a home reset plan for releasing, realigning and moving your body to continue your progress. Follow-ups depend on the person but usually in the beginning it is every other week and then we work towards extending the duration  for tune ups . Many clients continue with virtual reset classes to stay accountable.


Q. What is Fascia?  
The fascial system is a 3-dimensional web that is connected throughout the entire body. It influences and has connections to every system, structure  and motion of the body. Fascial restrictions do not appear  on Xrays, MRIs or CT scans. This is one reason why so many people dealing with pain or mobility issues do not get results with traditional therapies.
The fascia web is 60-70 percent water soluble. I picture a healthy fascia as the candy laffy taffy where it can glide and move easily versus a restricted fascia is like a dehydrated beef jerky. 
When this becomes dehydrated, pain, tightness, decrease mobility and poor movement start to creep up in the body. Improving the fascia restrictions happens with the length of time it is under gentle pressure. This can be accomplished with self fascia props or working with a John F Barnes MFR provider. Unfortunately in the traditional healthcare model, MFR is not the first thought to addressing these symptoms. A consistent self fascia routine is a gift everyone should give themselves weekly. This is why we created the virtual reset class and self paced programs.

Q. How do I dress for an MFR session? 
A. MFR requires use of the skin as a lever into the fascial system. Male patients should wear athletic shorts and women should wear shorts plus a sports-bra or loose tank top. Please DO NOT PUT LOTION ON YOUR SKIN prior to your session. The therapist must gently "anchor" into your skin (like sinking into soft clay) without sliding through lotion. Self fascia techniques ideally should be done on skin but can still have benefit over clothes. Length of hold is very 
important.

Q. Is it true that sometimes symptoms can get worse after treatment sessions?
A. Some patients, especially those with complex or chronic pain, experience what can be labeled as a Healing Response, especially after the first few treatment sessions. It is not uncommon, to feel "stirred up" after some sessions. This occurs as layers of built up tissue restrictions begin to soften, lengthen, and release. Longstanding restrictions actually store toxins so when they open or release, these toxins are finally able to escape the body. We recommend that clients drink water after each MFR session. The increased water consumption ensures that the released toxins can be eliminated from the body quickly via urination. It is important to know and remember that MFR never injures and never harms. Symptoms may increase or move to different areas of the body as the body shifts into better alignment and chronic restrictions leave the body. These changes reflect positive healing occurring in the body. 

Q. Do you only use Myofascial Release Therapy?
A No, Gordon PT will incorporate the Gordon PT Reset Method day one and if needed other therapy tools that will benefit the client (strength, balance, flexibility, mobilizations, kinesis taping, cupping). Regulating the nervous system through breath work and movement is part of every session.  ​

Q. Do you participate with any insurance companies? 
A. Gordon Physical Therapy is a fee-for-service structured clinic.  Payment is due at the time of service. Call or email for rates and if you have any questions. 

Q. If I do wish to submit bills to my private insurance provider for cost-reimbursement, how does that process work? 
​A. It is the clients’ responsibility to communicate with the insurance provider their out of network PT benefits if they choose to seek reimbursement for their in person consultation only. Y
ou may not submit to insurance for virtual wellness consults or if Medicare is your primary insurance.

here is no guarantee that your session will be reimbursed or the amount that might be reimbursed. 

Q. Do I need a doctors prescription?
A: In the state of Delaware, the physical therapist has direct access for 30 days. After the 30 days, a prescription is required. 

 Reset Classes and self paced programs are for educational and instruction only. You do not need a doctors script but are advised to get clearance from your healthcare provider before participating.
